Design/Build

Make Your Design Vision a Reality

Thank you for visiting our site! I hope you enjoy the pictures of some of our past projects and get excited about your project’s potential. Below are some Frequently asked questions about the Design/Build service we offer and how it may suit your needs. This service is for those who are tired of playing gardener/amateur hole digger and want a well planned landscape that will give them years of enjoyment. We do everything from start to finish—we will even maintain it when we are done.

Hopefully I will be meeting you soon!!
Shawn LaRue
Owner, HSG Inc.

What is Design/Build?

If you are planning a landscape project you typically have some idea of what you want. Design/build helps you sharpen that vision into something that is real, meets your needs, and your budget. We use our 13 plus years of experience in the field to get you focused on what will work for your particular situation.

Question: “How does the design/build process work?”

1. During the first meeting we will discuss what your vision is. Do you want pavers? A pool? A large turf area for kids to play? A sitting area with a nice bench and water feature? A gorgeous vista outside your kitchen/bedroom/living room window? Every customer is unique. These are the first questions that must be answered before we move forward.

2. At the end of that meeting we should have a pretty good idea of where you project is heading and should have some idea of what your budget is. We would then formulate a Design/Build quote that takes into account the complexity of your particular project.

Question: “Do you do free designs?”

We used to. Then we realized that the customers who ended up going with us had pretty much made up their mind if they were going to use HSG, Inc. by the end of that first meeting or shortly after. It takes a lot of time and effort to go back and forth meeting with a potential customer and giving them an elaborate design only to have the project put off or never come to fruition for some other reason. The design/build agreement requires a small, non-refundable deposit to move to the next stage when we start providing working drawings. If you are unable or unwilling to make that kind of commitment then your probably aren’t ready to begin your project and should probably put it off until you are.

Question: “I am calling different companies to get ideas and quotes, do you charge for consultations?”

There is no charge for the first meeting. However, if you are calling 5 companies to get the best price on a 15-gal crepe myrtle “if you dig the hole” we are probably not the company for you. Save your time and ours by calling someone else.

Question: “How would I get started on a landscape project?”

The first thing would be to give us a call at 850-603-9783 or email slarue@hortservicesgroup.com to schedule a face-to-face meeting to discuss your needs and see if we can help.
